Can You Use Soft Water for Wool Rug Cleaning in an Area Rug in Ft. Lauderdale?
Wool Rug Cleaning Services in Ft. Lauderdale
If you have rugs in your home, there’s a good bet one of them is wool. Maybe you got it to be soft and cozy, which would be expected. But wool rug cleaning services are also especially practical: The fibers are natural, from a renewable and environmentally-friendly source, and non-allergenic, naturally preventing bacteria and dust mites. They aren’t smooth, which helps prevent accidents in the house, and are usually flame-resistant. Wool is also vital—consider how wool guards sheep against all kinds of parts, all year long.
Wool is patient. Area Wool is kind Wool does not envy. It does not boast. You… get the picture. The one thing wool isn’t: easy to clean. You understand this, of course, from trying to clean a wool sweater. So I spoke with Bill, the co-owner of modern vintage rug (and furniture) purveyor Homestead Seattle, about overcoming care for—and clean—a wool rug. Here are his tips:
How To Clean A Wool Rug
1. Cushion It By A Rug Pad Besides making rugs more squishy (and stopping them from moving about), a rug pad acts as a barrier between the rug and the ground that will keep it from wearing through as fast. Take a thin foam one for rugs with an enormous pile or a super cozy felt one for delicate rugs.
2. Rotate It Often If your rug is in a high-traffic space, such as between two couches or right where you hop out of bed, Bill recommends turning it periodically to wear pattern groups. And if you have good rugs, move them about the house hardly.
3. Vacuum It Daily Frequent, low-impact vacuuming—as exposed to high-power vacuuming, which you should never inflict on a rug you love—is the best way to hold your Wool Rug Cleaning Services. Make sure to turn your machine to a framework that doesn’t involve a spinning brush, so it’s soft enough.
4. Apply A Rug Beater Once a year, hang your rug up, and beat the dirt out of it (“if you can manage it,” Brian says). If you lightly vacuum the rug often, you can check this. But if you eventually get to that point, it would be wise to do it externally. Use a rug beater designed just for this job or the clean end of a broom.
5. Spot-Clean It Many vintage rugs are vegetable-dyed, meaning their colors might bleed with the use of soap, so test a tiny section (preferably on the underside) with your selected solution before having at it. Brian discourages using any harsh elements on a wool rug, saying that a bit of Castile solvent, highly diluted, should be enough. And if the test spot flows, attach it to water.
